‘Creating Opportunities’

Spring 2025

Happy New Year

Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely Christmas holiday. We kick started the year by being treated to watch a fantastic Pantomime at school. We watched Beauty & the Beast; we really enjoyed ourselves and had a great time!

Over The Waves

Our topic this term is 'Over the Waves'. We launched our topic by exploring images and movements to do with water. We listened to sounds of waves and explored movement using the parachute.

Artwork

We looked at the artist Hokusai and in detail his painting ‘The Great Wave’. We recreated the picture by using different media and art techniques such as watercolours, printing and in a mosaic form.

Exploring Everyday materials

As part of our Science topic, we have been exploring and investigating ‘Materials’ We have been learning about the names of materials (fabric, metal, glass, nylon, paper, wood, leather) as well as their properties (transparent, opaque, smooth, hard, rigid, flexible).

We carried out an investigation about the properties of different materials as well as their suitability.

They have also looked at absorption and which material would be suitable for an umbrella.

RE

This term we have been learning more about Christianity. We enjoyed looking around our local church. It was exciting to see the stained glass windows and explore the features of a church.

Maths Games

Playing maths games is so much fun. We really enjoy it when parents come in to play games with us. What games can you see? We practise and learn so many skills through play.

Safer Internet Day

We had visitor come in and talk to us about being safe online. They discussed how we can use the internet and digital tools positively through our online identities. They also reminded us of the importance of staying safe when playing and communicating online and of telling an adult if we are unsure about another’s online identity.
