Summer Term
Trip to Hobbledown
What a fantastic time we had at Hobbledown Farm!
Thank you to all the parents that joined us, making it possible to go. We were able to explore the different play areas. We were risk-takers, having a go at climbing into and exploring equipment. We were kind and took turns.
We showed respect towards others to and from on the bus journey. We showed respect to each other, including fellow visitors, and to the animals of course. One highlight was feeding the Lemurs some Willow leaves that they thoroughly enjoyed. The Meer cats also entertained us by being brave and saying hello.
Classifying Animals
We loved learning about different animals; we learnt to classify them into carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. We also classified them into mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish, birds and insects. It was really interesting and the trip to Hobbledown Farm meant we had the real life experience of observing and interacting with various animals.
Geography
In geography we have been continuing to look at globes and maps. Our trip to Hobbledown gave us great 1st hand experience of using a map to find the animal we wanted to see. What maps have you seen around? Please share them with us.
Design Technology
Each class have been exploring a different skill in DT this term. It has been fantastic to showcase our new skills to other classes.
Green class have been learning about sliding mechanisms. They designed an animal enclosure and made a sliding door for the zoo keeper to access that animals.
Orange Class have been exploring pop up pictures and books. They have experimented with different pop up techniques and chosen one for their own book.
Pink Class have been exploring different ingredients in scones to make animal biscuits.
