Science-Planting Runner Beans
This term we planted and grew runner beans in our classrooms. We kept a weekly bean diary to record the progress of our plants each week. They grew very fast! Five weeks later we took them home to plant in our gardens or in a larger pot.
Science-The Cress Experiment
While learning about what plants needs to grow, we conducted an experiment by planting cress seeds in soil, on paper towel, keeping a pot in the fridge, keeping a pot in the dark and having a pot of cress seeds not watered at all. We learnt that plants need soil, water, the right temperature, sunlight and carbon dioxide to grow healthy. We came to this conclusion by observing our cress seeds on a weekly basis, noting the colour of the leaves and measuring their growth using a ruler.
Maths Games Workshop
We had our Maths Games Workshop this term where our parents joined us to play some exciting Maths games. They encouraged us to play along with our peers. We had the opportunity to share the games and our Maths knowledge with our parents.
Year 2's Picnic
As part of our learning in English where we are writing a recount, Gold, Silver and Purple class got together to have a picnic in the afternoon along with the parents. We prepared delicious cheese and jam sandwiches, tray bakes and carrot and cucumber sticks for the picnic. The next day we wrote a Recount in our English books.
