Year 2 Competition
10 children from year 2 were selected to take part in a competition to show our Athletic skills. We enjoyed the day and had a wonderful time competing and cheering on the other teams! Even if it was a bit chilly!
We hosted our Spring Term Maths workshops. Parents and carers came into our classes to play maths games and we shared the skills we have been learning.
In Science we have been learning about the different materials and how we can use them in day to day life; including in our art work. We started off by looking at all sorts of different materials and we organised them in to categories using a Venn Diagram. After that we tried to change the object by bending, squashing, breaking and poking them. We learnt that hard, solid objects we could not change.
Kensuke's Kingdom Topic
Our topic this half term is based around a book called Kensuke's Kingdom.We are mainly focussing on Art, DT and Science. The illustration on the cover of the book reminded us of this famous art work by Hokusai, a Japanese artist, that was created in the 1800's;
Children were asked to use different art and design skills to create an island at home. Different materials and methods of joining were used and the children then presented their work to the class. Look at some of the amazing examples;
Half Term Value
Our value this half term is Self Belief. We have been talking about how believing in ourselves can make anything possible. Silver Class started by talking about what makes them amazing and unique. They looked carefully in mirrors and sketched self- portraits.
