SCOOTER SAFETY SKILLS
For2feet recently visited our school to provide Scooter Safety training for children in Year 2.
The training was designed to teach children how to scoot, focusing on the road dangers that children are likely to encounter on their scoot to school. The children learnt essential road safety skills to make them safer scooter riders and pedestrians.
The training was conducted in small groups of children with experienced scooter safety instructors. Some of the training took place in the school playground and some on risk assessed pavements around the school.
The training covered scooter control, pavement etiquette with other pedestrians, identifying scooting hazards, speed control and stopping, crossing the road with a scooter, finding a safe place to cross, how the cross at junctions and parked cars and the dangers of cars reversing from driveways.
